Can anyone out there point me towards independent (and preferably peer-reviewed) research on whether recycling paper produced in North America is good or bad for the environment? I have read positions both for and against paper recycling but they always seem to come from biased sources (i.e. environmental activists or industry activists). I would really like to find some actual scientific research on the topic so I can make the most environmentally wise decision.
To be clear I am looking for references to published scientific research. I’ve been to wikipedia, I want a thorough scientific perspective.
