Lazy Eight (?) asked:

I have an old, dusty computer that I don’t use anymore. I have already taken the hard drive out. Where can I take it for recycling ?
I kept the monitor.

In the UK? Your nearest open space, field or hedgerow will be pleased to receive it. Conversely you might take it to a reccentre.

Look at the Environmental Protection Agency’s site on eCycling.
It provides information about regional and State eCycling programs, and lists organizations and retailers with donation and recycling programs.

In the US, Sam’s Clubs are collecting old electronics even if it does not qualify for credit toward your new purchase.

In my city, there is a commercial place, Construction Junction, that takes the stuff and recycles it.

Hi,
As a hobby I collect old computers and parts and when I have enough bits I put together a working PC and give it to a local Charity shop. 14 last year and 2 so far in 2009.
They are sold for $100+ so I feel like I am giving something worthwhile and at the same time enjoying a mentally stimulating experience at no real cost to me.
Everything is useful. I can pick up if you’re not too far.
